Summary:

Project Coordinator will primarily be responsible for The Open World Program as well as providing general administrative support to other American Councils Programs including the Junior Faculty Development Program (JFDP) and region-wide secondary school exchange programs YES and A-SMYLE, as well as providing development support. The Project Coordinator will lead the Open World Program administration at American Councils.

 

The Open World Program is funded by the Open World Leadership Center at the Library of Congress. The program is implemented through travel of delegations to the U.S., aims to increase mutual understanding between the U.S. and target countries; to provide exposure to U.S. democratic institutions, the U.S. political system, and public-private partnerships and inter-relationships; and to form the basis for a continuing dialogue for future cooperation.  The Project Coordinator serves as the primary local point of contact on program matters, and will have primary responsibility for implementing the nomination, application and selection process and coordinating logistics for participant program enrollment and travel.

 

The position reports to the Regional Director and is a permanent, full-time position subject to continuation of funding.

 

Responsibilities for Open World:

●     Serve as liaison to U.S. Embassy and nominators

●     Process incoming program applications and provide appropriate translations English/Serbian

●     Identify and screen individuals to serve as delegation facilitators and interpreters

●     Prepare information on applicants for selection committee

●     Track applicant status and performs notification

●     Assign participants to delegations and perform participant enrollment

●     Collect documents and procure visas

●     Oversee development and distribution of local-language materials for partners and participants

●     Coordinate logistics for pre-departure orientation and departure

●     Respond to requests for information

●     Provide support to visiting program staff

●     Collect and process program feedback.

 

Additional Responsibilities:

●     Updating and maintaining the website

●     Updating and editing print materials (proficiency in Adobe Suite required, particularly InDesign and Illustrator)

●     Assisting with logistics and planning for seminars, conference and trainings

●     Compiling and updating placement reports for A-SMYLE students departing for the U.S.

●     Assisting in A-SMYLE program promotion

●     Translating documents, at supervisor’s request

Qualifications:

●     Strong writing and communication skills

●     Strong English and native knowledge of Serbian

●     US Experience

●     Demonstrated organizational ability and attention to detail

●     Demonstrated problem-solving skills

●     Ability to manage multiple priorities quickly and effectively

●     Ability to work independently while contributing to an overall team effort

●     Proven effectiveness in a cross-cultural work environment

●     Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to work with high level officials

●     Strong computer skills

●     At least 2 years experience in similar positions
