The topic of the workshop, ‘multilingualism’ is one of the hot topics which refers to different layers
of our everyday life and the New Euro-generation is discussing. The young generation is encouraged
to be multilingual and still keeping the diversity in their own culture. By travelling through Europe by train, thus being able to see the landscape changing and get a sense of its physicality, the project aims to explore the question of multilingualism through film, by giving young people free range to discover this New Europe and how it speaks by themselves. The New Eurogeneration is travelling, settling in different
communities, speaking different languages; but still forming a unity in itself.
Three Weeks on Three Trains
The 45 participants will meet in three European Capitals: Tallinn, San Sebastián and Turin. Dividing into groups of three people (one director, one cinematographer and one sound engineer), they will make 15 short documentaries on the way to Istanbul.
One Week in Istanbul, the European Capital of Culture in 2010
The three trains will finally arrive in Istanbul on the 10th of October. There, the filmmakers will
edit their films and attend a week-long series of events, screenings, panels, meetings, parties. The
first screening of the films will be made in Istanbul on the 15th of October.
